Naama Shefi and Devra Ferst are co-authors of “The Jewish Holiday Table”, a collection of 135 vibrant recipes, each with accompanying stories collected by the Jewish Food Society. Naama Shefi is a kibbutznik and New Yorker whose work sits at the intersection of food, culture, community building, and art. In 2017, she founded the Jewish Food Society, a nonprofit organization which preserves and celebrates Jewish culinary heritage through a digital recipe archive and dynamic events. In the summer of 2021, she launched Asif: Culinary Institute of Israel, a center in Tel Aviv dedicated to exploring the diverse and creative food culture of Israel.
Mark Smith, from the U.S. Department of Energy, and Isabel Builes, a student at Cal State Los Angeles, will be joining us to talk about the Battery Workforce Challenge. In October 2023, the DOE and Stellantis partnered together to launch the Battery Workforce Challenge, which includes an advanced battery design and development student competition series that tasks 12 North American universities and partner vocational schools (listed below) to design, build, test and integrate an advanced EV battery into a future Stellantis vehicle. The “BattChallenge” is well underway and students have begun the design process with their teams which continues through 2026.
