Dr. John Friedewald, Medical Director of kidney and pancreas transplantation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, will be raising awareness about the importance of organ donation for national donation life month. He will also be discussing some of the latest research available as well as Northwestern Memorial’s role in advancing treatment.
Dr. Bruce Wang, assistant professor, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and a member of the UCSF Porphyria Center and the Porphyrias Consortium, will be talking about acute hepatic porphyrias (AHPs) – a family of rare genetic diseases characterized by potentially life-threatening attacks and chronic, often painful, debilitating symptoms. Dr. Wang specializes in caring for patients with AHPs and AHPs research.
Jon Blystone started “Seven Ways In 7 Days” as a way to share his experiences in climbing out of the self-pity crevasse. He spent a week focusing on others to change his mindset. It has led to public presentations and his first book. It has shown him that positive surroundings and support can overcome toxic influence.
