Your home should be your castle or at least your happy place.
If you’re like me, we all have wish lists—things that you want to do, but life happened, so the to do list didn’t get done.
Well, we finally started working on those things at my house. We completely redecorated our master bedroom and bathroom. It turned out to be dreamy—better than we could have imagined! We also changed our style. We are in a time of our life where we are clearing out all the clutter and getting rid of things that don’t bring us fulfillment and joy. My husband and I can really feel the calmness of being decluttered. As we have four kids and have collected most of our life, it’s going to take some time, but we are getting there!
Coming from a creative family, I always did everything myself. This time we thought it would be nice to use someone else’s expertise. You might want to hire someone to get their professional advice and fresh ideas for decorating. Although before that, you might want to take a look at Pinterest and pick out styles you would like to incorporate into your home. And even before that, you might want to start clearing out your home and surroundings—it’s so refreshing!
If you have a lot of stuff that is close to your heart, take pictures and gift it to someone. It seems like our generation wants to keep it in the family, but our kids do not want the family heirlooms. Consider hiring an organizer for those spots in your home where you just can’t make sense of your clutter so you can have organization in your life and feel good every day. Remember, if you’re picking out new items, keep them simple as dusting is not something you will be wanting to do, I’m sure. The biggest thing I would share is it’s a journey and not a race, so take one step at a time, one drawer and one door to your happy place.
