“Trick Or Treat”
Happy Halloween to you! This actually was one of my favorite holidays, but as my kids are growing up it doesn’t seem as much fun. I’m sure as my grandchildren are able to share in on the fun it will change again. Why is it that we sometimes wait for life to be fun? Maybe we need to just decide to have fun.
I took a different approach to trick or treating this year. On Halloween we can be anyone we choose to be by wearing a mask. It makes me wonder if some of us wear that mask through life. Are we tricking ourselves into thinking that we are happy with our life the way it is because it would be one more thing we would have to work on? If we don’t check in on our own life, nobody else will. It’s been my experience that when I don’t take control of my life or my decisions… Darn it, life just finishes them for me. It would be so much better if we were able to make some of those decisions, even when they are hard ones. I’m not saying to try and control the outcome, but we should at least be part of the decision. Are we not able to make them because we don’t think we are worthy of them? If you are feeling like you are not supposed to have an amazing life, then you might be tricking yourself about how you might be feeling. Why aren’t we treating our lives with integrity and being true to ourselves? We don’t have to beat ourselves up, but are we suppressing our thoughts or our feelings?
Take a moment to look at each portion of your life, and find your blessing in the lesson. What we are suppressing will start to make our life depressing. Don’t try to look at everything that you are not happy with. Start with your gratitude list and then work through one of the portions of your life that you would like to improve or something that has not brought about your true happiness. Don’t beat yourself up, just simply look at ways you would like to improve your life, one by one. It could actually be fun to go trick or treating through your own life.
Happy Hunting through your journey called life!
