This month, I’m sharing my personal gratitude list.
It starts with my two amazing parents who brought me into this world with excitement and passion. I’m most grateful that they were not only my parents, but that they were also my best friends—I was able to talk to them about anything. They taught me the meaning of life and love and integrity. I’m grateful for having had a relationship with my grandparents. I’m thankful for all my mom’s and grandma’s recipes that still bring me right back to those great childhood times. As I look back at where I grew up and my childhood memories and friends, I’m so very grateful for all of those experiences and memories.
I recall driving without seatbelts, staying out until the street lights came on, respecting my teachers and principals, loving school and wanting to get good grades. I’m thankful that my parents bought me a car when I turned 16 because they thought I deserved it, not because I was entitled or to keep up with the neighbors.
I’m grateful that I learned that time and timing is everything. I learned to grab life and all there is to experience. I’m thankful for my husband and for the experiences we’ve shared as a couple—and that we are still happy together after all these years! I’m most grateful for our incredible children and for being their mom—they are my life! As they form their own beautiful families, I’m grateful for the friendships with my children and their spouses.
I watch the seeds that we planted grow and blossom. I’m beyond grateful for our grandchildren; they are another beautiful gift, along with the relationships we are forging with them every day.
I’m grateful that I have the ability to make things look beautiful and for having a vision for beauty. I never realized that was a gift that was handed down to me. My hair therapy and my decorating impact my daily life, turning anything into beauty. I celebrate all my beautiful friendships and the infinite knowledge I’ve learned from hosting my radio show. I’m thankful that I have a sense about people and getting to know them. I’m grateful that I have a loving home and that my neighbors have been extended family.
And, of course, for our pets and their unconditional love and our garden that yields our golden nuggets. These are all things that I am personally grateful for. Taking a moment to write down the things that you are grateful for and that have made a difference in your life may well lead to a journey down memory lane that will cause you to give thanks about the many things in your life for which you are grateful.
