What would happen if you stopped for a moment and took a look at your life? Many of us may think we are living our passion, love our job, have a great relationship and family; while others are feeling stuck, not sure how to change their circumstances. It is really courageous to stand in front of your life and take the opportunity to rethink it and readdress it, because each step we take in life, may lead us to a new way of thinking and being. We carry on in the same path, and not looking at it from time to time, we may miss out on our grandest fulfillment. We evolve, life evolves, our family evolves and when we aren’t living in the present moment, we miss out on all that because we are in the maintenance of life only.
Life brings us “check in” times. The times when we ask ourselves “Why am I doing this?”, “Is it fulfilling me?” We wonder “How am I taking care of myself?” or, “How am I helping to take care of others?”. I’m in the midst of this in different areas of my life. It can feel frustrating, overwhelming and sometimes I have to just stop and rethink. Taking a look at the whole picture of my life and knowing that I want to see it in a different way.
I challenge you to stand in front of a full mirror and reevaluate your whole self. Pull the reigns back in for a moment and rethink. Here are some questions to ponder:
- How am I honoring my health/body/weight?
- How am I honoring my mind?
- Do the clothes I wear represent who I am?
- Do I take time to do my hair, is it the best look for me?
- Am I managing my life to the best of my abilities?
- Am I contributing to my family and relationships in meaningful ways?
- What are my priorities and do they fit best with where I really want to be focused in my life?
We reach a point where we must shift from going through the motions of living, to a place of knowing how to really take care of ourselves in meaningful ways. It is time to expand in our lives. During this finding of ourselves, you need people in your life that help you to see from this vantage point of expansion and growth. It is important to reach out for people who can help you to see your life in fresh new ways.
Here are some simple steps you can take now to get started:
1. Start by taking things off of your plate that you can. Begin to reclaim some time for yourself so that you can reflect on your goals.
2. Surround yourself with people who see life from a positive, growth filled perspective.
3. Take care of your annual “to-do” items. Make your annual appointments. Even if it is a small step toward your health, begin to take it!
4. Enjoy the process. Know that rethinking life takes time. It takes a new approach. And be sure to honor yourself for stepping up to the plate and taking action in your life.
Life is going to figure itself out with or without you. Rethink everything. You might as well take part in the dance! Wake up and live your dream!
