“Cornfused”
So much fun this Halloween weekend! We visited the Harvest Festival with our kids and our grandchildren. We all went around the pumpkin patch grabbing our pumpkins, taking pictures, and noticing that the fall harvest was in the air. There were little train rides, people feeding the farm animals, and people picking out their pumpkins. Our grandchildren were still too little to really take in any of it, other than their first lick of a fruit popsicle that they both really enjoyed. My kids had to leave to go do their feeding, but my husband and I decided to stay and go into the corn maze, which is always one of my favorite things to do at the Harvest Festival.
It occurred to me as we started through the corn maze when I saw all these families and kids that this really represented how life is. All these families were on a journey. We all started out in the same place, but some tried going down one path, which led them to a dead end and they had to start over, not from the beginning, but from where they were. Some people asked for help and some people had a confused look on their face. Some people were very sure of themselves and took the leader approach, while others were just having fun.
As I looked around it made me think of my life. Which person are you? Do you ask strangers for directions, or are you just trying to figure it out on your own? Do you have a family support system? How are you going through your journey? As your friends or your co-workers might pass you or you might pass them, don’t forget to enjoy your journey and take in the scenery of the people and place that you are passing by. You might hit what you think are some dead ends, but always remember it’s all a part of the road map for your life. Even though we might need help, getting to our next destination will help keep your personal navigator on.
