It’s the beginning of the year and if you’re like me, you’ll agree it’s a good time to take a moment to reflect on the past year—what worked and what didn’t. Re-book all your appointments and family and friends’ birthdays. As we’re all regrouping for the new year, writing our to-do lists and resolutions, be sure not to forget about your health.
Make sure your checkups are part of your routines. Some of the more important ones include checking your eyes, ears and teeth; getting a mammogram, visiting the gynecologist, and scheduling a colonoscopy and heart checkup.
I think sometimes we worry more about our homes and cars than ourselves. This year let’s make sure we put ourselves at the top of the list.
Another thing that is really important is to ask for help. Our partners, family and close friends who know us so well are not mind readers. Learn to ask for what you need, and in return learn to be a good listener and show concern for what others might need as well.
I also really believe in therapy—there are many forms; just getting your feelings out is so important. Try something new like yoga or a mindfulness class or join a gym or hire a coach. Maybe find a buddy to work out with to enrich your health and wellness. What do you do to invest in yourself?
Happy New Year & Happy New You!
