Expanding My Horizons

September 1, 2015

“Expanding My Horizons”
My husband and I bought a ocean motor boat recently and this is one of his favorite places to be, on the ocean. Me, on the other hand, I enjoy our boat as well. But don’t get me wrong, I could stay right in the slip. I don’t have the best sea legs, so that means I have to wear the seasick bands and sometimes have to take sea sick pills. If you know anything about me, I don’t like taking medication for really anything.
On Friday my husband and I planned another trip on the boat. After all, my husband attends all of my events, so he made me aware that this is something that he really wanted to do. We were already running later than we had planned after we got all our stuff done and we started out with only an hour of daylight to go… Although, we probably should of thought this through a little better. Everything was ok, but we hit some 40 mile winds that did a little damage. Note to self, lock the refrigerator unless you want to clean up everything that crashes out of it. The wind made the waves and water come over the top of our boat. This is exactly what makes me so anxious. Finally, we got anchored and got some sleep.
The next morning when we woke up, it was clear and beautiful! The point of my story is that the next day I took notes on how to drive the boat in case of an emergency so that I would know what to do. Sometimes your job is to sit back and relax and sometimes you need to figure out how you can help yourself and have some fun. I learned to drive our boat while we were fishing and I realized that a little bit of knowledge goes along way. Don’t ever feel something is too big or over your head that you can’t figure it out. I made my own notes that way it would make sense to me so I can always have it to fall back on. Overall, we had a great time and I will keep you tuned in on our next Pagano boat adventure!

Best,
Kim Pagano
