As my hubby and I walk around our neighborhood noticing all the homes and styles, it occurred to me that each home has a personality, or do the homes reflect the personality of their owners?
In our neighborhood there’s homes that families have lived in for many happy years and others where couples seem to divorce and move out of more often. Do you think each home has a personality and its inhabitants take on that trait or is it the other way around? It also interests me how each family uses their home, with some gathering in their backyards, others in their front yards and some in the garage. Where is the hub of your home?
We just purchased a vacation home, and the couple that owned it before us left it immaculate and included every manual and receipt and even blueprints! What a joy, and we were so appreciative, as this made our transition much easier. When you purchased your home, what was your experience?
I really believe each home is intended to be your castle, and there are many ways to achieve this. One way is to hire a decorator that gets you—that’s so important! Next, simplify your life one room at a time. Once you’ve done this you will have the ability to appreciate the simpler life with passion.
Getting rid of the clutter and things that don’t bring you joy will make you appreciate your stuff that you saved even more. Look at pictures for inspiration and feel yourself in it. Be open to change. My biggest recommendation is to keep it neat; this is the best enjoyment. Make your bed right when you wake up. Pick up as you go, use something and find its home and put it away, and clean as you cook. Before you go to bed, make sure the house is straightened up and ready for the next day. The rewards will be enormous, as we never know what tomorrow holds. You will always be ready to enjoy the brighter side of life in your home and in your life.
