This is the year that you can and will truly make the biggest impact by shopping locally. So many families are just barely hanging on since the covid-19 situation and the mandatory shutdowns. You can really make a difference in someone’s life.
The biggest thing I want to stress is that you can really help a local family just by purchasing a dozen eggs or fresh vegetables from our farmers markets. If you have a favorite local boutique, support it.
Our restaurants have also really been affected–one of my favorite restaurants was barely keeping the doors open when someone asked how they were doing. The owner started to tear up, prompting the customer to post on social media asking others who like the restaurant to support them, and the next day the line was out the door!
We can all make a difference by supporting our friends in whatever it is that you would be purchasing. If you are a shop owner or restaurateur, showing appreciation to all of your clients can also help you retain and grow your business. It rewards them for patronizing you and your business and helps you continue to grow your business and possibly attract new clients. I realize there is a convenience to ordering online, so why not check out the websites of the businesses you patronize so you can still keep it easy while helping them keep their doors open by buying local?
At this time of year, make a pact to find someone whose products you love and purchase their goods, but go one step further–share what you purchased on social media and in your personal tribe; everyone loves to hear about great new ideas. By doing so, you are not only helping yourself, you’re helping someone else!
