April is National Minority Health Month
Dr. David Atkins, Acting Chief Research and Development Officer in the Department of Veterans Affairs, is here to tell us about Health Care Access and Quality for Minority Veterans. Health care is distributed unevenly in the United States, and minority populations often receive less care than others, or care of lesser quality. Members of minority communities have higher rates of chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension. During National Minority Health Month, the Department of Veterans Affairs t is highlighting how it has been committed to researching and eliminating health disparities in the minority community for over 30 years.
