Hope Warshaw is a dietitian and diabetes educator who’s proud to put the credentials, RD, CDE, BC-ADM, after her name. She owns a consulting practice, Hope Warshaw Associates, LLC, in Northern Virginia. Her work today spans from work as a spokesperson, corporate consultant, freelance writer and book author. Hope is particularly well-known for her expertise in diabetes nutrition management and healthy restaurant eating.

Dr. Graeme MacKenzie is an optometrist and came to Adlens following a number of years working as a university lecturer specializing in optics and binocular vision. Graeme led the design of the World Bank funded Child Vision Study on variable focus eyewear and, through his knowledge of the human visual system and the eye care profession, contributes to the regulatory, marketing, design and training aspects of Adlens’ business in his role as Director of Industry Affairs.


Steve Seifert & Danae Domian will be going over Tips & Techniques to Save for College the 529 college savings plans. As part of their ongoing effort to raise awareness for 529 plans and college savings techniques, Edward Jones branches across the country are recognizing May 29 (5/29) as “Save for Education Day” – a firm-wide holiday derived from the name of the popular college savings tool.


Teri Llach is Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder of Blackhawk Network with more than 25 years of brand management and general management expertise. Her responsibilities span public relations, advertising, promotions, social media, business intelligence, research and product marketing. She will be telling us about how gift cards are redeemable for shares of U.S. stock, and how they are a new and innovative option.

Javier Rodriguez is president and CEO of DaVita Kidney Care, a leading provider of kidney care services and a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc., a FORTUNE 500® company that provides a variety of health care services to patient populations throughout the United States and abroad. DaVita Kidney Care delivers dialysis services to patients with chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease.

Dr. Jerald Radich, director of the Molecular Oncology Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and professor of medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Gail Sperling, senior information specialist in the Information Resource Center at LLS, talk about tips to improve communication between physicians and patients diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. According to a Survey from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Novartis, the frequency of patient testing is significantly below current guidelines and these two specialists seek to bring attention to and alleviate this issue.

Orbi Rosario is the director of the GoodGuides mentoring program for Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, where he is dedicated to helping teens avoid the choices he once made and Hanna Strope is a GoodGuides mentor. The GoodGuides program serves youth, ages 12–17, who are at risk of dropping out of school and/or falling into delinquency. The program helps them finish school, transition into the world of work and prepare for success by pairing them with trusted adult volunteer mentors. 


Dr. Margaret Wilson is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of UnitedHealthcare Global. She joined UnitedHealthcare in 2008, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the health care field. Her experience includes internal and geriatric medicine, health care quality management and clinical/medical teaching. She has earned various honors for her work, including for promoting cultural diversity in medical education, and has published more than 70 articles in medical journals and textbooks.


Alan Yatvin and Dr. Linda Siminerio will be talking about the American Diabetes Association’s Safe At School Campaign dedicated to making sure all children with diabetes are medically safe at school, are treated fairly and have the same educational opportunities as their peers. This is accomplished through tools, resources and guidance provided to families by the Association’s legal advocates to aid in the development of written plans to avoid problems and to find solutions when problems do occur.
